Carl Froch v Andre Ward Preview

Ahead of this weekend's fight with American Andre Ward, British boxer Carl Froch has admitted that he is more than prepared to fight dirty in order to get the job done.

The pair do battle early on Sunday morning in Atlantic City and as far as boxing betting pundits are concerned Froch is the underdog, but he is ready to do all it takes to get the win.

He said: "Ward is a dirty fighter, it's as simple as that. If he headbutts me, he'll get a headbutt or elbow straight back. That's how it works."

"You cannot wait 10 minutes to do it, you have to do it instantly. That way the referee is under to b*****k both of us, not just one fighter."

"It was like that against Glen Johnson in the semi-final when he hit me low first thing. The first punch I threw after that was a left hook that hit him straight in the b******s.

"If he referee doesn't do his job, then I'll do it for him. I make no secret of that. It's all about winning by any means."

""I need to say to myself, 'right OK, I need to bite down on to my gumshield even harder if I can' because I've got to restore Britain's pride."

"Boxers are going away, not getting decisions and are losing so it's not looking good for us as a nation. It puts even more pressure on me, but I don't mind. "I desperately want us back on the world map. We can't be a nation of losers."

As mentioned though, Ward is the favourite as far as the betting odds are concerned. He is 4/11 with Skybet for the win, while Froch is 5/2 with Ladbrokes.

The unlikely draw is then available at 28/1 with StanJames. One thing for sure though is that it will be explosive and that Froch will be loudly cheered by the huge army of British boxing fans making the trip.
