New Zealand v England first Test preview

England and New Zealand lock horns in the third Test match of three on Tuesday in Dunedin and both sides know how vital a win is here to claim a series victory.

The Three Lions will be considered by many as the big favourites for this one as they have already won the One Day International and Twenty20 series, and you would say Test matches are what they are best at.

There are of course two Ashes series taking place this year, so Alastair Cook will want to use this series as a chance to build momentum and confidence.

With how strong England are as well, they might be able to experiment a few things and figure out what their best eleven is. In this first match though, winning is vital and Cook must lead from the front, much like he did in India last year.

The visiting side have the potential to go on and dominate Test cricket in the next few years, but they cannot afford to look too far ahead and have to concentrate on the task ahead.

England do look to be a very strong outfit and they should have too much quality for New Zealand, but you can never right the home team off.

The Kiwis will be disappointed with the two series defeats so far as both of them have ended 2-1, so they have shown they can beat England, but are unable to put in big performances consistently.

Test cricket is a lot more demanding than limited overs and the hosts might struggle to challenge their opponents over the course of four days, but they have to give it a go.

If Brendon McCullum – captain and star batsman – is able to bat for a long time, they certainly have a chance.

When looking at a betting bonus or two for this encounter in Dunedin, you will see that England are the big favourites at 8/15 to win this one.

Then, New Zealand are out at 13/2 with Betfred.

For a bit of extra value though, betting on Alastair Cook to be the top batsman for his side at 7/2 with Ladbrokes could be the way to go.

New Zealand v England first ODI preview

England and New Zealand meet in the first One Day International of the three-match series at Hamilton in the early hours of Sunday morning and it should be a cracking encounter between these two strong teams.
The Three Lions have the confidence and momentum coming into this one after their 2-1 win in the Twenty20 series.
The third T20 was where England really showed what a great side they can be in limited over cricket as they were convincing winners.
However, a lot of changes have been made from the T20 to the ODI squad and Alastair Cook now takes over as captain from Stuart Broad.
Experienced campaigners such as James Anderson, Ian Bell, Graeme Swann and Jonathon Trott also come into the squad and are likely to feature in Hamilton.
England are the big favourites to take a 1-0 lead in this series as well as they are at 8/13 with Ladbrokes.
The touring side will feel as though they are stronger in the 50-over game than they are in T20’s, so confidence is sure to be high coming into this one.
As for New Zealand, they would have been extremely disappointed with their performance last time out and now, Brendon McCullum has to get his men in the right frame of mind for Sunday’s match.
McCullum is likely to be the key men for his team and if he bats for any sort of time in this format of the game, he can take the match away from a side.
In terms of a betting bonus from the Kiwi’s winning this one, they can be backed at 22/13.
With the two captains, McCullum and Cook, both looking to set the example for the rest of their team and they are each at 7/2 with Boylesports to be the leading scorer for their respective sides.
