2016-17 Premier League - West Ham vs Middlesbrough

One of the more intriguing fixtures among Saturday's football lineup is West Ham vs Middlesbrough. Both teams are currently in the relegation battle, and although at this stage it's hard to say which of them might still be in that battle come the end of the season, this match could turn out to be crucial.

West Ham have had a very strange start to the new term. Last time round they were a solid and seriously impressive side, finishing seventh in the league and reaching the qualifying round of the Europa League. This season they are six games in with just one win and three points to their credit, coming in a 1-0 victory over Bournemouth.

The Hammers have conceded fourteen goals in that time, including four in half an hour against West Bromwich Albion. Manager Slaven Bilic and club Chairmen David Gold and David Sullivan have all vowed to turn things around, but Middlesbrough have been impressive at times even if the results haven't always gone their way, and they must surely fancy their chances here.

The best place to back the visitors is at 888Sport, who are offering a decent 13/5.

West Ham definitely have a defensive problem, but there's no denying there is quality in their squad. They spent £50 million in the transfer window, and they still have the likes of the awesome Dmitri Payet to call on. Middlesbrough have looked good in their games so far, but at the end of them they have only managed to seal the win on one occasion.

If West Ham are going to start turning their season around this might be the time to do it, and the best place to back them is at StanJames, who are offering a reasonable 6/5.

All in all, though, our hunch if that the Hammers' collapse will continue. We think Middlebrough will win this but both teams will score, and the best place we've found to back that is at Coral, at a very tempting 6/1.

2016-17 Premier League - Saturday Roundup

Saturday's football brings us a host of matches that look a touch one sided. Nonetheless we're confident of a few surprises along the way, and we've dug around to find you the best odds.

The early fixture sees Liverpool travel to Swansea to carry on their campaign. The Reds have been impressive over the season so far - not quite as successful as Man City, but certainly doing enough to ensure that they have to be considered as title contenders at this early stage.

Swansea have not been impressing quite so much. They're currently sitting just outside the relegation zone with a win and a draw to their name. Last season's midtable finish promised more than their last six games have delivered. We think Liverpool are going to win this one, albeit after a tough fight.

The best place to back Liverpool to Win and Both Teams to Score is at Coral, at a reasonable price of 9/5.

At three o'clock, Sunderland vs West Brom could be an interesting match. We're not certain that the football will be of the silky quality you might get between two title contenders, but with Sunderland desperate for more points on the board and West Brom coming in off the back of a hard earned draw at Stoke and a blistering victory over West Ham, both sides will be eager to nail this one.

Given how both teams have played this season, we think the Baggies have the edge. However, Sunderland manager David Moyes put the blame squarely on his player for throwing away a 2-0 lead in their 3-2 loss against Crystal Palace last time out, and we don't think his team will want to do that again in a hurry.

Our feeling is that this one may well end up as a draw, and the best place to back that is at StanJames, at a decent 11/5.

Finally, if you head to PaddyPower you can build a nice accumulator from Saturday's games. We tried Liverpool, Chelsea, Middlesbrough, West Brom, and Watford all to win and got a very tempting price of roughly 54/1. You can amend that however you like, but those look like decent odds to us!
