Arsenal have had a solid start to the new season. They've climbed to third in the Premier League table after a 3-0 victory over Chelsea on Saturday: now they need to get their Champions League season going.
They've already played one match, of course, but the 1-1 draw against Paris St Germain was a hard earned point and they need to get more than that this time round. PSG are probably the toughest team in Arsenal's group, though, and while FC Basel are no pushover they should, on paper at least, be an easier match and a potential three points for the Gunners.
They need those three points to leave themselves in the best possible position to progress to the knockout stages, which they need to do in order to uphold Arsene Wenger's exceptional record in this competition. The way his side played against Chelsea showed what Arsenal are capable of this season, and if they bring that energy and style into this match we're sure they'll reap the rewards.
The best place to back Arsenal to win is at StanJames, who are offering a decent 1/3.
That said, FC Basel may well make the most of their advantages to cause an upset. Arsenal will be missing their striker Olivier Giroud, sent off in the previous match against PSG. They will also be lacking Francis Coquelin, who had to leave the pitch in the first half of Saturday's game with a knee injury.
If Basel can exploit the gaps that leaves in Arsenal's game plan then they could well sneak a win on Wednesday evening. The best place to back that is at PaddyPower, at an exceptionally reasonable 9/1.
All in all, though, we're confident Arsenal should be able to wrap this one up. If you want longer odds than just a victory for the Gunners, we think it's worth going to Coral to pick up Arsenal to Win to Nil at a slightly more tempting 5/4.
