Champions League - Celtic vs Man City

The revelation of Sam Allardyce's parting of the ways with the Football Association will be dominating the sport headlines, but two teams in Great Britain will be focusing on the Champions League instead. Man City travel probably the shortest distance across Europe that they will have to go this year, to face Celtic in Glasgow.

Celtic will be without their first choice goalkeeper, Dorus de Vries, who was substituted at half time against Kilmarnock on Saturday and who has yet to recover from a chest injury. They have the perfect replacement on hand, though, in Scotland goalkeeper Craig Gordon.

City have a number of injury worries themselves, though, with Kevin de Bruyne missing through a hamstring injury alongside Vincent Kompany with a groin injury and Fabian Delph with a muscle problem. Yaya Toure remains sidelined until his agent apologises to Pep Guardiola, so all in all Celtic may well fancy their chances against one of England's biggest teams.

The best place to back the hosts to win is at Ladbrokes, at a tempting 8/1.

That said, the City squad is not exactly short of quality, and there's plenty of expensive depth to the team. They won their first Champions League match this season very comfortably, beating Borussia Monchengladbach 4-0. We think they've got every chance of taking another win on Wednesday, and the best place to back that is at BoyleSports, offering a market leading 2/5.

If you fancy some longer odds, we think City may well win and keep a clean sheet once again. The best place to back City to Win to Nil is at Coral, who will give you the best price we've found at 29/20.

Champions League - CSKA Moscow vs Tottenham Hotspur

Tottenham Hotspur continue their Champions League campaign with a trip right over Europe to face CSKA Moscow on Tuesday night. A trip to Russia is usually a tough game for any side, and with the violence that marred the England vs Russia game in Euro 2016 still fresh in everybody's minds, it is to be hoped that the event goes off without anything more than a friendly rivalry between the hosts and the travelling fans.

CSKA are managed by Leonid Slutsky, who also managed the Russian team at the summer tournament, and they are likely to prove difficult to break down. Russian football isn't much talked about in the UK, and it's one of the most insular leagues in the world so it's often hard to gauge by comparison to the quality level in other nations, but CSKA have been consistently strong and earned a draw in their opening fixture against Bayer Leverkussen.

We think Moscow may well have what it takes to win this, and the best place to back them is at BetFred, who are offering a decent 23/10.

Spurs are obviously a quality side, as their finishing position last season and their current league position this season shows. They do like making things hard for themselves though, and after defeat by Monaco in their opening match they are now taking a depleted squad to Russia for this one.

Harry Kane is still sidelined with an ankle injury, while Eric Dier, Danny Rose, and Mousa Dembele all miss out due to hamstring injuries. Moussa Sissoko will also miss the game, after suffering concussion in Spurs' league match against Middlesbrough last weekend.

Nonetheless, like all top sides Tottenham have strength in depth, and manager Mauricio Pochettino is adamant that the additions they made to the squad over the summer are more than enough to make Spurs competitive in the Champions League this year. The best place to back them to win in Moscow is at Ladbrokes, priced at a very reasonable 29/20.

Finally, our feeling is that Spurs should be able to win this, but it won't come easy. The best place to back Spurs to Win and Both Teams to Score is at Coral, who have picked it out as one of their Match Specials at 4/1.
