2016-17 Premier League - Sunday Roundup

Sunday sees two matches played in the Premier League. Everton host West Ham while Chelsea travel to Southampton, and we've had a look at both to pick out our favourite odds.

After a dire start to the season West Ham have started picking up the points now. Like fellow strugglers Stoke it looked for a little while like they were never going to win a game, but they've now taken three victories in their last three including a very nice win over Chelsea in the League Cup.

Everton have been a mixed bag this season. They've had a few wins to their credit, but they have also struggled to overcome opponents who they should, on paper at least, be able to sweep aside. Recently they have earned a very creditable draw against Man City, but they followed that up with a very unconvincing loss away to Burnley.

It's impossible to know which Everton will show up to this match, and we feel the momentum is with West Ham. The best place to back them for the win is at 888Sport, whose price of 15/4 is by far the best we've found on the market.

Chelsea will be looking forward to their visit to Southampton. They're fourth in the table, one point off first, and they are coming into this game off the back of a 4-0 demolishing of Jose Mourinho's Manchester United last weekend.

Southampton aren't doing badly either - they are eighth in the table, albeit rather further off the top being seven points behind. Their last league match was another tough one, and they thoroughly deserved their draw against Man City at the Etihad.

The momentum here is probably with Chelsea, but Saints are a strong defensive side and they will have done their homework. The best place to back them to earn another draw is at StanJames, who have it at a decent 12/5.

When all's said and done, though, on paper Sunday should see victories for Everton and Chelsea. The best place we've found to back that double is at Ladbrokes, where it works out at a fraction under 7/2.

2016-17 Premier League - Leicester City vs Crystal Palace

Leicester are one of the most confusing teams in the country right now. Despite fielding almost exactly the same lineups in the Premiership and in the Champions League, it's as though two entirely different sides are running out

Domestic league Leicester are, not exactly a shadow of last year's side, but certainly diminished, with decidedly mixed results leaving then on fewer than half the points of current league leaders Man City. Champions League Leicester, by contrast, are taking to the highest level of European club competition as though they were born to do it. They haven't faced any of Europe's biggest sides, and they haven't scored any spectacular victories, but their slow and steady progression of low scoring wins while for the most part keeping clean sheets is strongly reminiscent of their march to the title last season.

Claudio Ranieri has said this week that the difference in these Leicester performances is making him angry, and this week will undoubtedly be a match he wants to win. Crystal Palace were relegation battlers last season, but so far in 2016-17 they've done some good work. They sit ninth in the table, three points ahead of Leicester, and looking solid.

Leicester need to bring their real form back home for this one, and we think they can probably do it. The best place to back them is at PaddyPower, who are offering a decent 11/10.

That said, Palace have shown real skill this season. Despite going down 1-0 to West Ham last time out, Palace's performances have been very much those of a side who look comfortable in the mid table.

Leicester might find them hard to break down, and the best place to back the away team for the win is at Ladbrokes, who are offering a very reasonable 3/1.

All in all, we think this one should be Leicester's victory, and furthermore should look a lot more like the Leicester of last season. The best place to back Leicester to Win to Nil is at Coral, who are offering the best price we've seen at 12/5.
