2016-17 Premier League - Liverpool vs West Bromwich Albion

On paper you might well think that Liverpool vs West Bromwich Albion would be a fairly one sided game.

You'd have pretty good reason to think so too. Under Jurgen Klopp Liverpool have been resurgent, consistently scoring points and currently looking very much like Premier League title contenders. They've scored some impressive victories and seen off some mean opponents since Klopp took over at Anfield, and West Brom should be no trouble at all for a side who put five past Hull.

If that's how you think it's going to go then fair enough - even we admit that it's a fairly likely outcome. So likely in fact that the best odds we could find on it were 3/10 over at StanJames.

What the above fails to take into account, though, is that after a slightly dodgy start West Brom's season is developing into what could become quite a good year for them. They have scored points in more games than not, and although drawing with Sunderland might have been a slightly poor result for them, drawing with Tottenham Hotspur last week certainly was not. Spurs were the only undefeated team left in the Premiership, and only an 89th minute goal from Nacer Chadli helped them preserve that record.

We don't think West Brom are likely to secure victory against Liverpool on Saturday evening. But we do think they play strong and they play smart and another draw might well be on the cards for them. The best place to back that is at 888Sport, at a market leading price of 53/10.

All that said, if you still think Liverpool will thrash the Baggies but want better odds, you could do worse than head to SkyBet. They are offering Liverpool to Win to Nil at a relatively decent price of Evens.

2016-17 Premier League - Saturday Roundup

There's a bit of a strange pattern developing at the moment in the Premier League, with several of the teams who struggled last year now sitting in comfortable mid table positions. Whether those positions will still hold at the end of the season it's all but impossible to say - the points margins are fairly narrow even now. But nonetheless, several of the Premiership's supposedly weaker teams are on a decent run of form.

This makes predicting some of this weekend's matches even more difficult than it usually is. West Brom very nearly beat Spurs last week, and we've looked at their chances against Liverpool in a separate post. Crystal Palace are also featured separately as they take on last season's champions, Leicester.

That leaves Bournemouth, who narrowly avoided relegation last season, but who absolutely thumped Hull 6-1 last week. They feature in the early kickoff against Tottenham Hotspur, who might have expected a win last week against the Baggies but ended up only just salvaging their unbeaten record instead.

Unfortunately for Bournemouth, we find it hard to see them beating Spurs even at home. The likeliest outcome is an away win but that doesn't give us decent odds, so given the Cherries' recent form we're tempted to look at the draw instead. The best place to back that is at ToteSport, who are offering a tempting 13/5.

Elsewhere in the league, Hull host currently struggling Stoke. Hull ahve been decent but unspectacular this season, and last time out was one to forget. Stoke, by contrast, have been struggling to find form at all, but they finally seem to have got off the mark as well as off the bottom.

We reckon Stoke will edge this one, and the best place to back them is at StanJames, at a decent 6/4.

Finally, West Ham have had a tough season so far as well, looking in complete disarray at times. There's plenty of quality in the squad though, and manager Slaven Bilic is no fool. We think this weekend's fixture against Sunderland, who almost look already relegated even at this early stage, will be an opportunity for Bilic to try and sort things out.

The best place to back West Ham to Win to Nil is at Coral, at a very decent 19/10.
