Ryder Cup 2012 - Who will be the main man for USA?

With just a couple of days to go until the 39th Ryder Cup gets underway from the Medinah Club in Chicago, the excitement is really starting to build for one of the biggest sporting events on the calendar.

Plenty of talk before the tournament is about the noise that the crowd in Illinois is sure to make. Many are saying that it the volume levels will be like nothing that the Ryder Cup has heard before.

Love is captaining a very strong looking side, but it does consist of four Ryder Cup rookies, so the experienced players in the camp will need to make sure that they are not overwhelmed by the occasion.

The younger players in the squad, such as Webb Simpson and Keegan Bradley have earned their place in the team and will be keen to show they can play some top quality golf on the biggest stage. Both can be backed at 12/1 to be the leading point scorer for USA.

One of the captain’s picks was Jim Furyk who is a 14/1 shot to be America’s top player with Stan James. This is the 42-year-olds seventh Ryder Cup appearance. Phil Mickelson is competing in his eighth tournament.

You cannot talk about the American team without mentioning Tiger Woods – who could be the key man in the competition this weekend. Woods is the current favourite to be the main man for America with odds of 5/1 with Bet365.

Despite not having the best few years in his game, Woods is still one of the best golfers in the world and if he is playing well, is sure to accumulate points throughout the three days.

You then have the likes of Steve Stricker and Dustin Johnson, who have a betting bonus of 8/1 to be Americas leading scorer.

It all makes for a thrilling tournament.

Ryder Cup 2012 - Who will take the lead on day one?

The Ryder Cup is now just days away and you can really feel the excitement starting to build for one of the biggest sporting events in the world.

This year it is of course the turn of United States of America to play host as the tournament comes for Illinois.

A good start can be vital in this competition, and you do not want the opposing team opening up a gap on the first day.

It is sure to be an electric atmosphere in America on the opening day and that could mean that the USA team come out flying - them having the lead at the end of day one can be backed at 11/10 with Ladbrokes.

The likes of Tiger Woods will need to lead by example and if he is anywhere near his best, then you would say the home side stand a good chance of taking an early lead.

As for Europe, their first job will of course be to try and silence the crowd in Illinois, which will be a very tough ask.

However, much like America, the Europeans do have the players that on their day can be extremely tough to play against.

None more so than Rory McIlroy at the moment as he is the current world number one and in the form of his life.

Jose Maria Olazábal is the man captaining Europe this year, and he will see that his men are available at 15/8 with BetVictor to be leading at the end of the first day.

Those interested in a betting offer for there being nothing to separate between the two teams on the opening day, that is being offered at 11/2

Although leads can be pegged back, it is a massive confidence boost for everyone in the squad and can prove to be vital.
