The Ryder Cup is just over a week away and all the excitement is starting to build for what should be an incredible weekend of golf in Illinois.
Both Captains have now picked their wildcards for the tournament -José Maria Olazábal selected two for Europe, whilst Davis Love III have made as many as four selections.
The wildcards picks are usually vital to success for either team. They have been chosen by the captain as someone that can make a difference and challenge the players that have been automatically selected.
As mentioned, the Davis Love III has picked four players and they are Steve Stricker, Jim Furyk, Dustin Johnson and Brandt Snedeker. José Maria Olazábal has then chosen Ian Poulter and Nicolas Colsaerts.
At the moment it is Stricker who is being tipped as the favourite to be the top of these picks with odds of 3/1 with Stan James.
Stricker has experience in the Ryder Cup and has of course won a major tournament in the past, so could be vital for this American side.
Dustin Johnson is then at 7/2 and is another player with plenty of experience of performing on the biggest stage.
Everyone knows just how competitive Poulter is and being picked in the Ryder Cup will be a massive honour for him and he is sure to want to repay his captains trust in him.
Jim Furyk is then at 9/2, with Brandt Snedeker at 6/1.
Other European Nicolas Colsaerts makes up the list with odds of 9/1.
It looks to be a great tournament and this is just another little battle to keep an eye on.
