2016 Mexican Grand Prix

This is the first weekend where Nico Rosberg might - just might - be able to claim the 2016 World Driver's Title outright.

It would rely on some more bad luck for Lewis Hamilton, but if Hamilton fails to finish the race and Rosberg takes victory, Rosberg will be fifty one points ahead with two races to go. Even if Hamilton won both of those with Rosberg not scoring, the German would still finish the season one point ahead.

Provided Rosberg keep scoring consistenly high points in the last three races it's going to be almost impossible to separate him from the title that is his in all but name right now. Barring some really awful reliabilty in the final races, he doesn't have much to worry about. We must remember, though, that Hamilton has had really awful reliability at several points this season, and you can't completely rule anything out. Who said this stuff was simple?

Last year's Mexican Grand Prix was the first running on the newly redesigned Circuit Hermanos Rodríguez, and Rosberg definitely had the edge over Hamilton throughout the weekend. This Friday, though, Hamilton looked to have it together in the practice sessions while Rosberg didn't shine quite so brightly - and remember, last year Hamilton was already champion while this year he's still desperately trying to defend his title.

Our feeling is that Hamilton will take pole position on Saturday, and the best place to back that is at BetFred, priced at 4/6.

We think he's also going to fight Rosberg all the way to the chequered flag and take the win too. The best place to back that is at SkyBet, priced at 8/11. Alternatively, you could back him for the Pole/Win double, which is offered by PaddyPower at Evens.

Finally, should anything happen among all that hard racing, who is going to pick up the pieces? Despite a crash at this circuit last year Sebastian Vettel is looking good in the practice sessions, and we think he might be worth picking up. The best place to get him for the win is at 10/1 over at Coral, though we'd probably consider backing that each way for a top two finish.

2016 US Grand Prix

Lewis Hamilton needs nothing less than a win this weekend in Austin, or else his chances of winning the 2016 Formula 1 world championship will surely have slipped away. The US Grand Prix has provided exciting racing every year since 2012 when it returned at the Circuit of the Americas, but will that excitement this year end with a Hamilton win?

It's hard to judge as ever, because Hamilton and Rosberg this season are two closely matched racers in equal machinery. Hamilton has a great history at this track, having won three of the four races run in Austin, and he must fancy his chances of a fourth victory this weekend. He was fastest in first practice, and although Rosberg leapfrogged him to be fastest in the second practice we suspect that will only inspire him to go faster.

He's certainly the driver who has the most to lose, and consequently should be the most motivated man in the field on Sunday morning. The best place to back Hamilton to win is at PaddyPower, who are offering a decent 11/10.

We can't deny, though, that Rosberg is the man on form right now. He's bringing a season's worth of confidence into this race, safe in the knowledge that he has the best car in the field and even if he finishes second to his teammate in every remaining race this season he will still be crowned champion at the end of it.

He's already looking strong in Texas this weekend, and it's hard to find a reason to bet against him. The best place to back Nico Rosberg to continue his winning streak and his journey towards the driver's title is at BetFred, at a reasonable 11/8.

Those odds aren't enormously tempting, we'd be the first to admit. If you want longer odds and think that Rosberg might be able to dominate this weekend in the same way as he has dominated many weekends over the course of this season, then you might like to back him for the hattrick of pole position, victory, and the fastest lap. The best place to back that is at SkyBet, who are offering a very tempting 11/2.
