Rugby World Cup Betting – USA impress

The USA rugby team began the World Cup tournament with high hopes and their performances have been quite impressive.

Rugby is not hugely popular in the USA and is mainly found on college campuses leading to a small pool of players available for selection. With this in mind the team expected a tough tournament but they have shown some good team performances.

The USA started the tournament with an opening game against Ireland and put in a good account of themselves. The Irish has bad first half with lots of handling errors but eventually found their way in the second half and managed to power ahead. Meanwhile, the USA were decent throughout and the final score of 22-10 in favour of Ireland was a reasonable reflection of the game.

The men wore their Eagles World Cup Jersey with pride when they played their second match against Russia and it was a reasonable close match. The Russia team were making their World Cup debut and the terrible weather conditions proved tricky for both sets of players.

The eventual score was 6-13 with the USA managing to out-muscle their inexperienced opponents and use their pace to great advantage.

The next game for the USA looks like a much more difficult affair as they take on Australia in Wellington. The Australians suffered a shock defeat in their last match against Ireland and will look to get back to winning ways with a good performance.

Meanwhile the USA team will look to build on some promising moments in their first two matches and produce a good performance.

The bookmakers are refusing to provide odds for an Australian victory and have priced the USA at 150/1 to claim the win. With this in mind a big Australian win is expected but the USA aim to build a platform to allow them o go into their final game against Italy with some positive thoughts.

Argentina primed for date with destiny

Argentina scrum half Marcelo Bosch believes the Pumas Pool B clash with Scotland this week is “the biggest game in four years”.

Bosch was a replacement in Argentina’s lost to England two weeks ago, and with the Puma’s requiring a win against Andy Robinson’s Scotland side on Saturday in order to keep their hopes of qualification for the knock out stages alive, Bosch believes the game is as important as their 3rd place play-off against France four years ago in the 2007 tournament.

"I think it will be a really tough game, perhaps our most important match in the past four years - we will think of the match as a final.” He said ahead of the clash at Wellington Regional Stadium.

"We hope to have a good match and we expect to win, of course."

While extolling the virtue of the game against Scotland, Bosch admits he is unlikely to take part from the start, with veteran number 9 and captain Felipe Contepomi  likely to come back into the side having missed out his side’s 43-8 win over Romania last week.

"I expect he will be on the field (on Sunday). He is our captain, a very important player for us and I expect the best for him and for us."

Those in Scottish Rugby Shirts have a chequered record against Argentina but have won the last two encounters between the two sides, a two match test series in 2010, but Bosch believes they will be unable to pick up a third straight victory.

"I expect they are going to have a bad day on Sunday.” He commented.

"Seriously, I think they have a very good team and have progressed a lot in the last few years. They keep control of the ball as far as they can. They have a couple of good fly-halves and they are very strong, so I think it's going to be a very tough game.

"The forwards are having a good championship. If they continue in a good way, the backs will follow them. We have to continue in our system of playing, our own strategy and I expect to have a good day."
