Olympics 2012 - Battle between three for gold in women's 100m?

The Women’s 100m final will attract a lot of attention at the Olympic Games this summer and even though it will only last around ten seconds, will be full of drama.

It looks as though it may be a battle between three athletes for the gold. There are two Jamaican’s – Shelly-Ann Fraser-Price and Veronica Campbell-Brown and then the American Carmelita Jeter.

Of course someone else could spring a surprise and beat one of these three, but it would take an incredible performance.

At the moment it is Fraser-Price who leads the way which is no surprise as she is the current Olympic Champion. When the 25-year-old won gold four years ago followed by success in the World Championship just a year later – she looked as though she would dominate the event for a few years to come.

However, in the last year or so her form has dipped and in the World Championships in 2011, she did not manage a medal.

As mentioned, she is the favourite to take gold in London with odds of 6/4 with BetVictor.

Then there is Jeter whose latest betting offer sees her at 11/4 to win the event.

The American has been in great form over the last year and is the current World Champion. At 32-years-old she will know this could be here last chance in an Olympic Games.

Jeter has never won an Olympic medal and she will be desperate to do that this time out.

Campbell-Brown is a big contender but she does specialise in the 200m event, something she has dominated recently.

The last time she took gold in an major event in the 100m was back in 2007. That said though, Campbell-Brown is certainly capable of beating anyone on here day.

You can back her at 6/1 with Stan James.
