The Sports Personality of the year shortlist has been announced and the debate is now open as to who will win the honour out of the 12 contenders.
During an Olympic year which was incredibly successful for Team GB, there is some fierce competition for the honour and high-profile stars such as Victoria Pendleton, Laura Trott, Jason Kenny and Greg Rutherford all missed out.
Instead, this is the list of 12 candidates -
The favourite at this stage is Wiggins. The Tour de France winner can be backed at 2/5 with Skybet. He also won Olympic gold and has proven to be a very popular character with the public.
You then have Farah, another front runner for your bonus bet. The double Olympic Champion captured the hearts of a nation with his performances in the summer and there wouldn't be too many compaints if his name was read out on the 16th December. He can be backed at 5/1.
Andy Murray and Jessica Ennis are the two other major contenders for the top three. You then come to some outsiders, with David Weir available at 33/1, while Sarah Storey is the least likely winner at 300/1 with Betfred.
For many though, the recognition of being on the list will be enough for them. They know they have had a great year and in arguably the best ever for British sport, their name will be remembered.
When it comes to it, the betting offers on show suggest that the top three will be made up of either Wiggins, Farah, Murray or Ennis. The fact that one of these will miss out says quite a lot!
Aired on BBC One, it should be quite a night on the 16th December and whoever wins, a celebration of a great sporting year.
